A comment from Jim Luppacchino at Watchers Lamp

June 3, 2008

My dear brother in the Lord at Watchers Lamp left this as a comment on another article. I wanted to post it for all to see where Jim stands on the recent topic of Rick Warren meeting with his critics.

Here is a little about Jim and where he is coming from this is from his blog

Husband of 20 years, father of two. Deacon,Sunday school teacher in SBC Church. Prepared for the 40 day PDL program. Alarmed at the edification of Catholicism and total ommission of the work of the Holy Spirit. Expressed concern to pastor, whom I greatly respected and admired. I was asked to give it a chance. I did, but continued to research the issue. Shared evidence, asked for meetings 20 month period. No response from staff. Pastor says, if I don’t back down I can’t teach Sunday School. Pastor says I am not welcome to attend Sunday school. He told the class I was removed for challenging his authority. Highlights include breach of confidentiality, bold face lies, deacon body defends pastor at all cost. State association mediator called in. Deacon body abruptly terminated mediation. Mediator dumbfounded. Deacons send letter saying they find nothing wrong with PDL or how the staff acted. Deacons ignore guidance and concerns of two other members, both 50 year members, one an ordained SBC minister. May God have mercy on us all.

Here are the comments Jim posted on my blog-

As a “victim” of the PDL dismemberment program referred to by James Sundquist,I respectfully wish to share a few thoughts:

The list of Warren’s invitees represents faithful Contenders of the Faith in this very dark hour. The meeting did raise legitimate concern for many observers, and I appreciate that Pastor Bob and Chris Rosebrough are publically sharing their perspectives of the experience.

Interesting to see that only TWO WITNESSES of the God of the Bible made the meeting. TWO WITNESSES who contend for the faith, and spoke the Truth in love.

“Where two or more are gathered, there I will be in their midsts”. Many recognize this verse as Christ’s establishing the concept of loving correction and discipline within the body of Christ.

That’s what seemed to have had occured at this meeting. TWO WITNESSES were sent to warn a king. Those who declined the invitation and those who did not acted on their convictions. These convictions and subsequent choices deserve respect. I would be afraid for these TWO WITNESSES if they felt convicted to attend, and failed to do so.

Oh that God is so merciful to continue to extend multiple opportunities for us all to repent, including Rick Warren and the thousands of pastors who are blinded by this movement.

Thank you Pastor Bob DeWaay & Chris Rosebrough for your courage, faithfulness and your witness at Saddleback. The Trumpet has been sounded again, only the Lord knows if it will be the last chance for Saddleback to repent.

Thank you to all the ministries referenced here that work tirelessly to pull others from the fire ( I was one )by the proclaiming the Truth of God’s Word.

Tim, thanks for the opportunity to share this on your blog.

From Rick Warrens Invitation Only Meeting with Chris Rosebrough and Bob Dewaay, 2008/06/02 at 1:15 PM

My comments-Notice Rick Warren would not even discuss or repent of what is being done in the name of Ricks new religion ie Purpose Driven. Even though Rick makes comments like this-

“Be willing to let people leave the church. And I told you earlier the fact that people are gonna leave the church no matter what you do. But when you define the vision, you’re choosing who leaves. You say, “But Rick, yes, they’re the pillars of the church.” Now, you know what pillars are. Pillars are people who hold things up … And in your church, you may have to have some blessed subtractions before you have any real additions.”— Rick Warren, while giving his “Building a Purpose-Driven Church” seminar at Saddleback Church, January, 1998. Seminar was taped, transcribed, and reported on by Dennis Costella in his article The Church Growth Movement.

Rick Warren describe Fundamentalist Christians as “those that stopped listening….it is an attitude that doesn’t want to listen to anybody else.”

And its very plain to see how Rick teaches how to remove resistors in Transitioning by Dan Southerland

COMMENTARY ON WALL STREET JOURNAL & BAPTIST PRESS ARTICLE ON RICK WARREN

Without directly accusing Rick Warren of lying, Suzanne Sataline, author of the September 5, 2006 Wall Street Journal article: A Popular Strategy For Church Growth Splits Congregants, astutely revealed him to be one when Warren says he opposes any efforts to expel members from churches who won’t comply with his programs, then she describes Dan Southerland’s Church Transitions organization, one of Rick Warren major global partners and quotes by their spokespersons Roddy Clyde and Glen Sartain prove that Rick Warren does promote those very efforts to expel members from churches. The WSJ article even backed it up by documenting that Church Transitions conducted their program right at Warren’s Saddleback Church, making it impossible for him to squirm out of it or say that it happened at another church…so therefore not his fault. And I can back it up too because I have tapes of Warren’s PDC Conference leaders in Nairobi Kenya, confirming their alliance with Church Transitions in Warren’s Global Peace Plan. I can’t even believe he would make such an audacious statement that can be so easily refuted when he trains 400,000 pastors all over the world how to do precisely just that when dealing with his “resisters” and those who “must die”. Suzanne Sataline caught Rick Warren redhanded! Good job! A further note in the Baptist Press article that there was not an ounce of compassion for any of the victims of Rick Warren’s programs as though they had no biblical grounds for their opposition. Also note that they tried to contact Warren and the Wall Street Journal, but no record of contacting any of the victims to verify their story. This is the same stunt that Baptist Press pulled when covering the story on 165 members being ousted from Gardendale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, as though they deserved it. When the reality is that BP did not even mention the real reason, and that was they opposed their church being hijacked by Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven programs and teachings.

So for Rick Warren to state “A lot of people take a good message and pervert it. Thats been done with every sigle message in the last 2000 years. Anybody can be misquoted; anybody can be misused. There are a lot of things done in the name of “purpose driven” that I would publically disavow. I feel no compulsion to defend every stupid mistake that every pastor has made in the name of “purpose driven.”

quote from Richard Abanes booklet ” Rick Warren and the Purpose that Drives Him” page 33.

The question I have is Ricks message truely being misused or misquoted or is Rick and his pals truely teaching to get rid of those who oppose a change over to Ricks new religion from Christianity.

Also Rick stating that “There are a lot of things done in the name of “purpose driven” that I would publicly disavow” is interesting.

When has Rick ever, and I do mean ever publically disavow ANYTHING that has been done in the name of “purpose driven.”

If someone has ever found a quote like this please let me know.

I think Rick publicly disavowing anything done in the name of purpose driven would hurt his business and perhaps this is why Rick remains silent.

And remember first and fore most Rick Warren is a businessman.

And for Rick Warren business is good.

Peace

Tim Wirth
